The Constitution of the Iroquois Nations
Disclaimer
The basis for our constitution was not pulled out of thin air, Thomas Jefferson got it's roots from the best known working model of the time, the Iroquois Nations Constitution. (This is still the best Constitution, simply because it also encompasses the natural order of the planets, nature and the universe.)
The full text of the Iroquois Constitution is such a large document, that in order to maintain a reasonable download time per page we had to split it up, by topic, across eleven pages. Each part is successively linked to the next part, or you can access a specific section from the links below.
- Part 1 - The Great Binding Law, Gayanashagowa
- Part 2 - Rights, Duties and Qualifications of Lords
& Election of Pine Tree Chiefs
- Part 3 - Names, Duties and Rights of War Chiefs
- Part 4 - Clans and Consanguinity
- Part 5 - Official Symbolism
- Part 6 - Laws of Adoption
- Part 7 - Laws of Emigration
& Rights of Foreign Nations
- Part 8 - Rights and Powers of War
- Part 9 - Treason or Secession of a Nation,
Rights of the People of the Five Nations
& Religious Ceremonies Protected
- Part 10 - The Installation Song
& Protection of the House
- Part 11 - Funeral Addresses
- Part 12 - Complete document in plain text format suitable for printing. Be forewarned, this is a rather large text file, (approx. 74k), and comprises about 18 pages. Also note that there are NO buttons or return links on the printable page, (nothing to distract from the text or interfere with the printing, the text itself is big enough), however, it will open in a new window. To return here simply close the window containing the print version.
